the miracle factory

Todd Karr is the one-man show behind The Miracle Factory, researching, designing, writing, editing, translating, and publishing our award-winning books. He even packs your order.

The Miracle Factory’s secret headquarters is the sprawling Invisible Manor, a 25-room 1908 Craftsman mansion in the heart of Los Angeles filled with thousands of rare magic books and artifacts.

The world-famous Magic Castle has recognized Karr’s work in magic books with its prestigious Literary Fellowship and a Life Membership. Other honors include the Milbourne Christopher Foundation Literary Award and the Society of American Magicians’ Biography Prize.

Some background: After studying journalism and art history at the University of Paris and the University of Southern California, Karr wrote for newspapers including the Los Angeles Times before moving to Paris as a full-time magician for eight years.

Karr’s career highlights include private shows for Monaco’s Prince Albert, Princess Caroline, and the late Prince Rainier at the Casino de Monte Carlo, the Princess Grace Theatre, and the Monte Carlo Sporting Club, as well as appearances at the Folies Bergère and Casino de Paris, plus many guest spots on French television. U.S. engagements include private shows at Las Vegas’ Palazzo and Venetian.

Karr has been a Magic Advisor for “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC, as well as for VH1’s “Celebracadabra series”; created illusions and served as magic consultant for France’s first prime-time magic program, “Attention: Magie,”; and designed illusions for the MTV Movie Awards.

Other writing adventures include a piece on author-magician Martin Gardner for the New York Times and a children’s magic book for Scholastic, Backyard Magic. Most recently, Karr wrote the four-page news section “The Eye” in industry leader Genii magazine.

Karr also speaks fluent French and has translated several important magic works into English.
