Todd Karr is The Miracle Factory’s man behind the curtain, researching, designing, writing, editing, translating, and publishing our award-winning books.

The world-famous Magic Castle has recognized Karr’s work in magic books with its prestigious Literary Fellowship and a Life Membership. Other honors include the Milbourne Christopher Foundation Literary Award and the Society of American Magicians’ Biography Prize.

Some background: After studying journalism and art history at the University of Paris and the University of Southern California, Karr reported on the entertainment industry for newspapers including the Los Angeles Times before moving to Paris as a full-time magician for eight years.

Career highlights include private shows for Monaco’s Prince Albert, Princess Caroline, and the late Prince Rainier at the Casino de Monte Carlo, the Princess Grace Theatre, and the Monte Carlo Sporting Club, plus the Folies Bergère and Casino de Paris, numerous Parisian cabarets, and appearances on French television. U.S. engagements include private shows at Las Vegas’ Palazzo and Venetian. 

Karr has been a Magic Advisor for “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC, as well as for VH1’s “Celebracadabra series”; created illusions and served as magic consultant for France’s first prime-time magic program, “Attention: Magie,”; and designed a quadruple levitation for MTV Movie Awards.

Other writing adventures include a piece on author-magician Martin Gardner for the New York Times and a children’s magic book for Scholastic, Backyard Magic. Karr also reported on the magic world in his news column “The Eye” for three years in Genii magazine.

Karr speaks fluent French and has translated several magic works into English.
